WRC » Why Ogier is 2013’s title favourite

VW maybe the WRC new boys, but would it be wise to bet against Sebastien Ogier lifting the 2013 crown?

Perfect! I believe Sordo is going to be the number 2 (he deserves). Hirvonen, slow but collecting point at every event will be the number 3. Mads at 4th and Finaly Latvala crashing a lot will be the number 5.

Hmmmmm. Bit early to predict who has what pace etc. Monte Carlo was an event like no other. Sweden also very specialist. I dont think we will see a true representation until Portugal? I like Ogier though. He's put in the work last year, and to spend the season keeping fresh on events in the Fabia has to be respected.

who cares who wins the championship this year, to me its the rally's that Loeb competes in that will matter, without a championship winning yard stick at every event this championship is going be a little hollow

as much as I like Sordo, Hirvonen and the rest I would have preffered to see Loeb vs Ogier because they seem to be a class above the rest as it is although I hope Ogier wins the championship as I said above its going to feel a little hollow, sort of like winning by default

@cas any chance of moving on? Many here would probably be more interested in seeing Walter Rohl or Ari Vatanen competing but life goes on! Time for Loeb to let someone else have a chance for once.

Agree that its too early to tell. The cars werent even running at full speed at Monte Carlo, the conditions didnt allow it.
Lets see how the VW stands up under full throttle for a whole event.

On gravel rallies Hirvonen should be able to keep up with Ogier and most of the rallies are on this surface so it's not so obvious to tell who will win the championship. About the tarmac ones Citroen has Sordo and maybe for the manufacturers championship it's easier to say that Citroen will win especially if Latvala doesn't adapt more quickly to the Polo.

@dean its not about giving someone else a chance, if Walter Rohl or Ari Vatanen had still been competitive they would still be going flat out against the likes of Loeb, Ogier and the rest. Loeb hasnt been winning by default any more than Rossi has been in the motogp or Plato does in the BTCC

when you have a genuine GOAT taken out of the competition even if they dont outright leave the sport like Rossi's ducati years it can devalue the brand, when Loeb enters the WTCC in 2014 they are getting a genuine record breaking world champion with more championships than Schumacher who do you think will be gaining the wrc with more winners per season or the wtcc?
