WRC » Why Ogier is 2013’s title favourite

VW maybe the WRC new boys, but would it be wise to bet against Sebastien Ogier lifting the 2013 crown?

This year could have bee Latvala year if he was still at ford Ogier had plenty time testing that engine it the Skoda so i will agree the championship is his for the taking with Lobe going Citroen will have to depend on Sordo because they other driver is slow and frightened

My interest will be in how Ogier might react if,thats a BIG if, Latvala gets his act sorted out. Ogier is a team man so long as it suits him. The moment it doesn't, BOOM!
I'm gunning for Latvala for that reason alone.

Let us not forget Andreas Mikkelsen. He will be joing the VW team from Portugal I believe. He is young, fast and a two times IRC champion. If Latvalla keeps to his current style then Andreas could easily figure higher in the table by the end of the year.

I have to say, I am a huge Ogier fan after seeing him (on youtube) during the Monte Carlo Rally in the S2000 Fabia. His speed was incredible, and his crash was done when he was going flat out.

I met him in person in Mexico, and I have to say, he was the friendliest of the WRC drivers. He is often called "arrogant" because of his spats with Loeb - that was how the media portrayed him. But he is really just a competitive driver hungry to win. He also helps young rally drivers in France. Loeb has always been a media darling. I have nothing bad to say about him, as he is still friendly as well, but I am a converted Ogier fan.

Great article - quite true, and I believe if the car is reliable, Ogier will win. I have been waiting for Latvala to be more consistent, but I don't think he has the mind for it. Hirvonen can't keep up with either Latvala or Ogier at full pace. Not to put any pressure on Ogier, but I do hope to see him lift the World Driver's Crown at the end of the year.
