Elfyn Evans: This is just the first step and I am extremely grateful to Malcolm [Wilson] and M-Sport for this opportunity and their belief in my future...

This is Fantastic news, only a few months ago Malcolm was joking that maybe if things didn't go well for Elfyn he will have to just go back to working at his Dads (Gwyndaf) garage in Mychynlleth called Evans Motors if memory serves me right.

Well Who would of thought that he would rise to the top this quickly, it is all credit to Malcolm though for him to give the seat to Elfyn, he must really see Elfyn as a future Star, not only to upgrade him to a Full WRC for a Full season, but it would seem he is in the 1st Team too, and that's Awesome. I think it is the first time a Welsh man has ever gotten this far in the Sport, his Dad had the occasional works drive on the R.A.C for Ford and then later with Seat in the Cordoba WRC but this is a Full season as a Top seed Works driver. Brilliant !!

A very proud moment for Wales and Welsh Rallying community and also for Britain as a Nation, like someone mentioned, we now have Two Brits carrying the Union Jack Flag on their roof vent. Both driver

continued :

both drivers have been chosen purely on Talent, neither Meeke of Evans had any kind of funding to contribute so this means that they are both obviously very talented and both Bosses see something very promising in them both. Brilliant !!! Let the 2014 Begin!!!! Awesome !!!!

For Taz, yeh that was David Llewellyn, he drove Toyota GT4 in the British Champiosnhip in 88 and 89 but Toyota would never give him the parts to match the works cars so Kankkunnen and Erickson had much quicker cars when it came to the R.A.C but I recall him going well in the Fog in 88 or 89

Then Dai drove the Sunny GTi-R on the RAC one year, I think it was either 91 or 92, Makkinnen also drove one at some point somewhere, Finland maybe, of course we know he then won Finland in 94 in a complete one off Escort Cosworth Drive, that never happens these days

Gwyndaf Evans was 6th overall in a Seat Cordoba WRC in 99 if I remember

He also won the Manx that year in a Seat Ibiza when I also won the Manx in the Ka Rally Chapmpionship category lol ( I shouldn't shout too loud about that lol)

What Malcolm needs to do now is find a driver like Essapekka Lappi and a reasonable budget to run him in the squads Qatar 2nd Team on selected events maybe 6 or 7 events and bring him on so when Mikko Retires or eventually loses his seat Malcolm will have at least 2 Home Grown Top drivers to lead the Main M-Sport Qatar Team who wont cost an arm and a leg like Ogier and Neuville

I realise that now Ford have pulled their funding Malcolm has a lot less Budget to go around and it is tight and tough surviving without the Manufacturer Financial support (see how Prodrive have done by comparison) but ideally the 2nd team should be a mixture of experience to block other drivers and Teams from scoring points and future stars of tomorrow who are getting their feet wet before their big swim in the Pond

Ford wont be away for ever anyway, they havnt gone far away don't worry ! They are like the Cheetahs in the long grass, maybe you cant see them but they are there watching and studying lol, I thin
