BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally team leader Mikko Hirvonen will headline at the Castle Combe Rallyday event in Wiltshire next month.

The 28-year old, who currently leads the race for the 2008 World Rally drivers' championship, 1 point up on arch rival Sebastien Loeb, will drive his Ford Focus RS WRC car at the annual extravaganza, which takes place on Saturday September 20 and now attracts around 10,000 people.

"This will be my second visit to Castle Combe for Rallyday with the BP Ford Abu Dhabi World Rally Team and after the monsoon-like weather of 2006, I hope the weather is kinder to us this year," said Hirvonen.

"I had huge fun there two years ago. Demonstration events like this offer the opportunity to show the crowds the capabilities of the Ford Focus RS World Rally Car without having to worry about the pressures of the ticking clock.

"I'm looking forward to putting on a good show and having some fun behind the wheel."

Audi UK's mighty quattro S1 E2 meanwhile will also be seen in action, reunited with former Audi team driver David Llewellin behind the wheel on the new, extended 'Feature Rally Stage'.

Former British Rally champion Russell Brookes, who is a regular the event, will be driving the Andrews Heat for Hire Sunbeam Lotus and Manta 400, plus past Finnish and Scandinavian Rally champion Pentti Airikkala will be driving a Vauxhall Chevette HS and talking about his business of Left Foot Braking.

Spectators can also expect to see two of the awesome Aston Martin Rally GT's developed by Prodrive, in conjunction with Dave Appleby Motorsport.

Rally Raid history will come to life with the sight and sound of the unique Peugeot 405 Turbo16 Rallye Raid.

Rallyday will also host an extensive display from the world of Rally Raid, featuring the menacing Bowler Nemesis and RallyRaidUK's Desert Warriors, the huge Tatra support trucks and bikes from Patsy Quick - the only British woman to complete the gruelling Dakar Rally on two wheels.

A live action Rallycross demonstration will take place at midday featuring a display of the UK's top 500BHP+ Supercars and high spec Division A machines on an adapted multi-surface course using the circuit and infield.

Rallyday visitors will be able to see a full entry of clubman's rally teams, historic rally cars, WRC cars and Rage Buggies tackle a special tarmac and gravel stage on the perimeter road of the circuit.

The paddock will be busier than ever with over 750 Cars on display and a range of traders and manufacturers offering rally related merchandise.

Nicky Grist, Tony Mason and Howard Davies will be sharing the commentary and interviewing drivers and celebrities throughout the day.

The organisers are currently in discussion with Mitsubishi Motors who are aiming to put on a spectacular display, which will incorporate the latest Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X.

Admission to the event is ?10 per adult if booked before August 31 or ?15 on the gate.
