Spectator ticket sales for December's Wales Rally GB are already 60 per cent ahead of comparable figures for this time last year, organisers confirmed this week.

"In particular, the 'Kids for a Quid' ticket offer for seats in the upper tier of the Millennium Stadium to watch the flat-out Cardiff Special Stage on Saturday 6 is proving to be very popular," read a statement to the press.

"'Kids for a Quid' tickets are also available to families who plan to visit the Service Park in Swansea's SA1 Waterfront development from Thursday December 4 to Sunday December 7.

"Sales are also up for the go-everywhere World Rally Pass (WRP) which, at ?90 for an adult, half price for children aged 9 to 15, represents the best value for money and in real terms costs no more now than what it did in 2005. The WRP provides access to all forest special stages (with the exception of the Millennium Stadium), service park and shakedown.

"Sales of Friday Day Passes are up too, influenced by the inclusion of historically popular special stages in mid-Wales that have not been used since 2000."

The Hafren, Myherin and Sweet Lamb forest stages near Llangurig in Powys will feature many of the classic rally routes over these fast flowing gravel roads as well as new sections giving spectators plenty of viewing choice.

"Naturally we are very pleased to announce ticket sales are considerably up compared with this time last year, but we appreciate our 'Early Bird' offer of reduced priced World Rally Passes has encouraged spectators to buy much earlier than in previous years," said Andrew Coe, chief executive of the rally organisers.

"The best value for money is the World Rally Pass and, as these are limited in number, I would recommend anyone contemplating buying one to do so early - they have sold out in recent years."

Access to the ceremonial start in Cathays Park at 18.00 hours on the evening of Thursday December 4 and the finish, in the same location, at 14.50 on Sunday December 7 is FREE.
