Clark appeals for backers to do Rally GB.

Britain's Barry Clark has launched a campaign calling on British businesses to support him in his World Rally Championship bid.

The 25-year-old has already made three outings in the WRC in 2008 - recording two top-ten results in Turkey and Corsica - and he hopes to once again join the fray at the final round of the season, Wales Rally GB, in December.

However, in order to make the entry list, he needs to find a significant five-figure sum in sponsorship. To make his dream possible he plans to offer 30 businesses across the UK the opportunity to win the chance to wrap his Ford Focus RS WRC07 in their company livery.

Every company or individual that sponsors him to the tune of £1000 is guaranteed to have their name emblazoned on Clark's Focus.

However, a winner selected at random will receive full coverage on the car - receiving global exposure for just a fraction of the estimated £50,000 that a sponsor would normally expect to pay for a fully-liveried vehicle in the WRC. The winner will also enjoy a passenger ride with Clark in his rally car.

Those wishing to take part can find out more by logging on to the rally star's website at: www.clarkrallysport.com.

Clark is hoping businesses from across the country - especially in his local area of Aberdeen and Cumbrian companies close to his current base in Carlisle - will support his attempts to finish the season on a high as well as launch a full WRC campaign in 2009.

"Having performed so well in my outings in the World Rally Championship this year I really want to make a big impression in the final round of the season, Wales Rally GB," said Clark.

"As my 'home' event it would mean a lot to go there and show everyone what I can do, and prove that I deserve to be in the WRC full-time next year.

"Britain needs as many representatives at the highest level of the sport as possible, and I hope that businesses who want to promote themselves to a worldwide audience will lend their support so that I can fly the flag for everyone in 2009," he summed-up.
