FIA Clubs boost for Rally Norway.

The two Norwegian FIA Clubs, the Royal Norwegian Automobile Club (KNA) and the Norwegian Automobile Federation (NAF), have become shareholders in the Norwegian WRC round, Rally Norway, it was announced on Friday.

Together with the Norwegian Automobile Sport Federation (NBF), the two clubs will control 67 per cent of the stocks in the company, Rally Norway AS.

The remaining shares are controlled by local investors, through the company RVI AS. The deal that was signed in Oslo prior to the weekend gives Rally Norway about 300,000 Euros in fresh capital and should help secure the event for the foreseeable future.

"As FIA members we want to show responsibility in a difficult economic situation for international motor sport. We believe in Rally Norway, and we believe in the future of the WRC with the new regulations coming from 2010," said NAF deputy president Odd Samuelsen and member of the board in KNA Arild Hansen.

"Our aim is to develop the rally to be even better than in 2007, and to keep the event in the World Rally Championship for the long term."

"We are very pleased to have the two FIA clubs, KNA and NAF, as partners," added chairman of RVI, Erik T. Veiby. "Now we have the very best backing from the major organisations in motor sport and mobility in Norway as partners."

Rally Norway, the second round in the 2008 FIA World Rally Championship, will take place from February 12-15 next year and just like in 2007, the event will be based in Hamar.
