The organisers of the Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo, the opening round of the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, have confirmed that the route for leg 3 has been revised due to a rockslide.

A statement to the media read:

"As a result of the bad weather affecting the southeast of France, and in particular the area behind Menton, a rockslide has closed the road between Sospel and Moulinet.

"The Conseil General des Alpes-Maritimes has told the Automobile Club de Monaco that the rockslide will take two months to clear, given the size of the works, and only then will the road be reopened to traffic.

"As a result, SS11 and SS13 'Sospel / Col de Turini / La Bollene-Vesubie' has been replaced by 'Col de Braus / Peira-Cava / Col de Turini / La Bollene-Vesubie' - a distance of 34.68 kilometres instead of the earlier 33.06 kilometres."
