IRC: Rallye Monte Carlo entry list released.

The organisers of the Rallye Automobile Monte Carlo published the official entry list for their event on Friday, the opening round of the 2009 Intercontinental Rally Challenge, which runs from January 20-24.

In total 65 crews are due to start with 19 in Super 2000 cars, including reigning IRC champion, Nicolas Vouilloz, as well as the likes of Giandomenico Basso, Juho Hanninen, Freddy Loix, Luca Rossetti, Jan Kopecky, Stephane Sarrazin, Didier Auriol and Toni Gardemeister.

Britain's Kris Meeke will also be in action, making his debut for the Peugeot UK team in his 207 S2000: "I've never driven the Peugoet S2000 machine in competition before," Kris told his personal website. "You have to be quite assertive with them, and I think that this should suit my driving style.

"But I go into the championship with a lot less experience of the cars and events compared to some of the other drivers so I plan to look at the bigger picture - the championship."

In addition to the 19 Super 2000 cars, there will be another 15 runners in the N4 class, with most piloting Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX's.

Of the rest, six are entered in A7 machinery, while there are eleven in A6 cars, four in N3, nine in N2 and one in N1.
