DAKAR: Day Twelve highlights.

Carlos Sainz saw his hopes of Dakar victory disappear on stage twelve when he went off into a ravine and was forced to retire.

It hands the lead to Giniel de Villiers, who was quickest through the stage to jump ahead of Mark Miller and take advantage of Sainz's demise.

In the bikes, Marc Coma continues to hold a healthy lead over Cyril Depres.
