Petter Solberg will look to make the most of an improved engine package in his Citroen Xsara as the World Rally Championship heads to Cyprus this weekend for the third round of the year.
In his first event with his own Petter Solberg World Rally Team last time out in Norway, the former WRC champion secured a sixth-place finish despite only limited time in the car ahead of the event and the fact he had had barely a matter of weeks to put together a team.
Since then, Solberg has managed to secure an updated engine for the Xsara from Citroen and having had more time to work with both car and team, Solberg said he was confident of putting up a stronger fight on the mixed Cypriot stages.
“Citroen has given me a new engine and together with new dampers from Reiger, and more time for preparations, I really think it will be possible to fight in Cyprus,” he said.
“We have been analysing and preparing in the weeks after Rally Norway and I am confident that we are much more prepared this time.”
