Loeb wins Cyprus Rally

Sebastien Loeb has wrapped up his 50th win in the World Rally Championship, maintaining his perfect start to the 2009 season, with victory in the Cyprus Rally.

The Frenchman entered the third and final leg, comprising just three stages, with a comfortable advantage over second-placed Mikko Hirvonen and, despite the Finn slashing his advantage over the first two sections, managed to reverse the trend on the short final test to confirm his half century.

Hirvonen was secure in second, holding more than a minute's cushion over Petter Solberg into the 14th and final stage and, finishing ahead of the Norwegian, secured the eight points. Solberg, meanwhile, completed his pursuit of Dani Sordo's factory Citroen by finishing ahead of the Spaniard and cementing the final podium spot in his privateer Xsara.

Can anyone stop Sebastien Loeb? How many wins has he got on the trot now and the trot doesnt look like ending anytime soon. If this carries on, will the WRC lose fans or will the FIA step in and try to give the others a hope? Congratulations to Petter though on getting 3rd in the privateer Citroen however, just proves you can't keep a good guy down in whatever piece of kit you give him.
