Jari-Matti Latvala says he is pleased with his performance on the Rally Cyprus, save for a mistake on day two of the event that saw him finish down in 12th position.
The Finn was competing on the event for the first time, but was in contention for a podium spot from the start, even managing to score a stage victory in SS7 to close the gap on BP Abu Dhabi Ford team-mate Mikko Hirvonen.
However, a mistake straight afterwards on SS8 saw Latvala go off the road and get stuck in the sand, leaving well outside the top ten by the end of the day.
Nonetheless, the Finn got going again for day three, battling his way up to an eventual 12th position to secure good manufacturer points for his team.
''I was pleased with my speed this weekend but disappointed to make a mistake yesterday,'' he said. ''This was my first time here so I'm happy to take away the experience of having driven all the stages.
“They were more difficult than I expected because there are so many changes in character but they weren't as rough as I thought. I've learned another lesson here and I want to deliver some solid results over the next few rallies on a surface I like.''
