Munchi's got their delayed 2009 World Rally Championship campaign off to a solid start with Federico Villagra taking a seventh place finish.
Having skipped the first two rounds of the season as they embark on a limited eight-rally programme, Villagra returned to action in the sole Ford Focus WRC RS looking to score good manufacturer points for the team.
It was a feat he managed as he kept his car pointing in the right direction on the occasionally treacherous mixed-surface, gradually picking up positions as others fell by the wayside, including on the final stage when an accident for Sebastien Ogier promoted him up to seventh.
Scoring two points for himself and the team, although the Argentine scored just a single top eight stage time, Villagra is pleased with the end result.
''It has been a great weekend and a great start to the championship campaign for us. It is really good to have scored both driver and manufacturer points in our first race of the season. It was a very difficult rally and I had to take it carefully on the muddy sections.
“We had a slight problem with the handbrake on the long stage today which made it very hard. Generally it has been a positive weekend for us and we had some good splits on some stages.
“The team has done a good job and helped us make some adjustments to the suspension and by the time we finished the car was feeling really good which is very positive ahead of Portugal next month.''
