Belgium Ypres Rally organisers have confirmed that an official Proton Satria Neo Super 2000 entry has been lodged for the iconic event, with double British ally champion Guy Wilks at the wheel.

For four years, Wilks was one of the references in the supporting categories of the WRC, winning five times in JWRC and once in the Production class, and finishing the 2005 season as JWRC runner-up at the wheel of a works Suzuki Ignis Super 1600. He also has experience with 4WD cars, having won the British Rally Championship in both 2007 and 2008 with his Mitsubishi Lancer.

He has already run the Proton Satria Super 2000 in April's Pirelli Rally, the first leg of the British Rally Championship. He was going for the win, but had to withdraw after the car caught fire, but showed enough to suggest that the combination could be a threat for victory on this month's IRC round.

The Proton is no stranger to the international scene either, as an MEM [Mellors Elliott Motorsport] tuned version contested the Rally d'Antibes last year with Brian Bouffier and, in February, participated in the Irish leg of the WRC with Niall McShea behind the wheel.
