Petter Solberg has confirmed that he will not re-join the fold on day three of the Acropolis Rally.

The Norwegian had been in a strong second - 21.9 seconds behind rally leader, Mikko Hirvonen, until he hit a rock in the penultimate stage and broke his suspension.

Although he made it through SS11 and then limped through SS12 and back to service, it was later announced that he will not be able to continue on day three due to gearbox and chassis damage.

"I was attacking and we hit a rock and destroyed the left front top mount. The bumper popped out of the bonnet," he explained. "It is a pity. We were very unlucky."
