Rally enthusiasts keen to be part of Repco Rally Australia have only four days to sign up for one of the remaining volunteer positions.
A statement from the organisers' of the tenth round in the 2009 World Rally Championship read:
"Volunteering is a rare and exciting opportunity for members of the community, including local residents, to be involved in the running of a major world championship event.
"Few people will get closer to the rally action and some of the best drivers in the World Rally Championship than the many volunteers.
"Repco Rally Australia has opportunities in the areas of stage security, service park officials, environmental guardians and spectator services.
"As officials on the stages or in the service park, volunteers will get an 'insider's' experience of the staging of a World Rally Championship round and carry on the proud Aussie tradition of volunteering for major community events.
"All volunteers receive an official Repco Rally Australia shirt and hat and free spectator access to the nightly Tweed Super Special Stage in Murwillumbah and one daytime rural spectator point, when their position allows.
"Experience is not necessary, as each post has a team leader who coordinates and trains officials in their roles.
"Volunteers must be over 16 years of age and available for at least two days of the three-day event.
"Volunteer registration for Repco Rally Australia closes next Monday, 17 August, at 5 pm.
"Interested people should register on-line at www.rallyaustralia.com/officials
or phone the rally office on (02) 6676 7025."
