Rally Australia: SS11

The organisers' of Repco Rally Australia have had to cancel SS11 - CTEK East 2.

The first run through the 11.33 kilometre stage, as SS6, was also axed this morning because of safety concerns for spectators and drivers. Police said they had reports that boulders had been placed on the road and the first rally car on the road was hit by a number of rocks.

Later the second running was also canned. The stage had been due to start at 3.03 pm.

Crews resumed the scheduled itinerary from SS12 (Mooball II) at 4.05 pm.

The Tweed Super Special Stage at Murwillumbah is due to start as scheduled at 6.30 pm [all times local].

More to follow later...

As an avid motor sport fan I am outraged that the few protesters as they call themselves but are unfortunately really terrorists. How is it that these people are able to cause so much inconvenience to not only the drivers but to the supporting public who far out weigh the number of terrorists. The reason I call these people terrorists is because they are endangering Drivers lives by throwing stones and tampering with the track. For a cause they believe in. This does not give them the right to force their opinion on others or trying to hurt others. If this occurred on main roads as has happened in the past there would be public outrage.

Denise you wouldn't have a clue would you to call peacefull anti rally protesters terrorists is totaly beyond me.If you take for example the dept of planning nsw division you will find out a lot more about environmental terrorism yes these are the *****s who support hoon driving on public roads and again these are the *****s who promote coal leases all around the country. These coal leases have on extraction a concoction of 21 poisonous chemicals 9 of those create cancer and the rest of them will give you and your kids asthma birth defects and kydney damage .The riot squad should stop their terrorism against the people and change their name to the peace squad...I live on the route.
