Crash.net’s Top 10 WRC Drivers: Fourth

Dani Sordo secures fourth place in your vote to find the top driver from the 2009 WRC season
With Sebastien Loeb as a team-mate, taking the headlines is a difficult task, but Dani Sordo produced a solid performance in 2009 to play a key role in Citroen's championship success.

Podium finishes in seven of the twelve events had a major impact on Citroen securing the manufacturers title, while the fact he was able to outscore Mikko Hirvonen three times also helped Loeb to clinch another drivers title.

Sordo failed to score on just two occasions all season and by the season end, it was a case of when – not if – he would secure his maiden WRC victory.

Heading into 2010, that first win shouldn't be too far away and the Spaniard secured fourth in your poll to find the top WRC driver of the campaign – one position lower than his championship finish.

Car: Citroen C4 WRC

Championship position: 3rd

well, he was unfortunate that the Catalunya Rally came at such a decisive moment for Loeb and Citroën. does not mean that Seb would have lost BTW, but it's understandable that the team wanted to avoid any unnecessary risks.

Whilst many don't think Sordo will be "allowed" to win while Loeb is in the team, 2010 is likely to be a more straightforward year for Seb with a greater no. of events on tar compared to 2009. As a result, Loeb is unlikely to be pushed as hard for the title as he was in 2009 so Sordo will be allowed to push for an outright win. ...& he truly deserves it. Great driver, superb #2 in the team & getting better & better.
