Wilks keen on Skoda UK programme

Guy Wilks works on a full programme with Skoda UK for the 2010 IRC season
Guy Wilks has been linked to a programme on the 2010 Intercontinental Rally Challenge with Skoda UK.

Wilks won Rally of Scotland in a Skoda Fabia Super 2000 last November – following the exclusion of Kris Meeke - and has made no secret of his desire to remain with the company for a full campaign next season.

"I would love to be in the car,” he said. “The Fabia is a proven rally winner with the potential to win the championship and I would dearly love the opportunity to do that. But there's no contract in place right now."

A spokesperson for Skoda UK insisted the company was keen to compete but that no decision had been taken.

"An IRC entry is under consideration,” he said. “We'd love to be able to do this, but nothing is finalised."

Wilks has experience of a number of IRC events following a part-programme with the factory Proton team in 2009.

Absolutely no dispute that Guy is a very quick & capable driver. The problem is that he's not (yet) got the rounded skills needed especially when out of the car. Would be good to see a Brit get a decent break into the IRC (alongside Meeke).

I hope so but I hope he also has the manners to keep his engine off when someone else is being interviewed. I never heard a word a certain Proton driver said at Rally Scotland cos he fired up his car and let it idle. Ignorant git.
