Petter Solberg will drive a Citroen C4 WRC car in the 2010 World Rally Championship, it has been announced.

The Norwegian, who flirted with the idea of switching to a Ford Focus RS WRC, has bought two 2009 spec C4 WRC's from Citroen Racing. 'Hollywood' plans to use both cars during the course of the 2010 championship, which begins next month with the Swedish Rally.

"After several, and tough, discussions with Citro?n Racing, we have now come to an agreement, which enables me to really fight at the top," Solberg said.

"We hope to have the full budget in place at the end of next week, and hope to present the 2010 Petter Solberg World Rally Team and sponsors just after."

Solberg, who was left without a works drive following the withdrawal of the Subaru World Rally Team at the end of 2008, entered eight of the first ten events last year in a privately-run Citroen Xsara WRC - impressively achieving a brace of podiums along the way, in Cyprus and Sardinia.

He switched to a C4 WRC for the final two events in Spain and Britain, on both of which he came home fourth.

He was eventually classified fifth in the 2009 WRC drivers' championship, having scored 35 points in total.
