Patrik Sandell says he is looking for a faultless start to the season as the Super 2000 WRC title fight gets underway in Sweden.
Having moved over from the PWRC to the new SWRC for the 2010 campaign, the Red Bull Rally team driver starts the season as one of the championship favourites thanks to the fact he already has a season at the wheel of his Skoda Fabia S2000 under his belt.
With the likes of Martin Prokop and Janne Tuohino likely to challenge for honours with the new M-Sport developed Ford Fiesta, Prokop said he was keen to start the season strongly, especially with the first SWRC event coming on home soil.
“I'm looking forward to the season finally starting, especially in my immediate home of Sweden,” he said. “We will of course try to measure up to the great expectations – and one of those is of course a faultless, perfect start to this year!”
Team boss Raimund Baumschlager added that the only target for Sandell and co-driver Emil Axelsson had to be the championship crown.
“The two will have to deal with this pressure this year,” he said. “The equipment is bang on, as is the experience with the team. This year's target can only be the title, in spite of the strongest competition.”
