IRC: Hankook to back Mikkelsen

OFFICIAL: Hankook and Andreas Mikkelsen team up again for the Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
Andreas Mikkelsen will enjoy the support of tyre giant Hanook this season, it has been confirmed today.

Mikkelsen is due to contest around seven rounds in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge this year at the wheel of an M-Sport run Ford Fiesta S2000.

The 20-year-old got his first taste of the Fiesta on Rally Sweden back in February and will begin his IRC campaign in Sardinia in June.

"We have a very busy season with seven rounds of the IRC and selected rounds of the Norwegian national rally championship," said Mikkelsen, who announced he was going to compete in the IRC back in February. "Having worked with Hankook last year I have tremendous confidence in the tyres and the Fiesta S2000 is without a doubt the rally car of the future."

"This is such an exciting prospect for the season," added Hankook motorsport manager Mike Patterson. "We dipped our toes in the water with the IRC last year and were impressed with the whole package.

"We were also impressed with Andreas, who drove for us on the Barum Czech Rally Zlin and won with us on the Costa Brava Rally and so we are delighted to have put together a comprehensive programme with such an extremely promising young driver."
