Petter Solberg will seek to maintain his strong tarmac form as the World Rally Championship returns to asphalt this weekend in France.
Solberg has impressed on tarmac this year with his privately-run Citroen C4 WRC and heads to France this weekend fighting Jari-Matti Latvala for third in the championship standings.
The former champion has tested ahead of the weekend and will now aim to close the gap to Latvala on an event where his team will expand to two cars – having agreed a deal to run WTCC title hopeful Yvan Muller in an older Xsara WRC.
“I'm quite excited about another event on tarmac,” Solberg said. “We have done a full day of testing before the event, with a good result. Also we know from both Bulgaria and Germany, that we are competitive on tarmac.
“I think it will be good fun for all of us to have Yvan with us in the team this weekend, and I'm sure he will enjoy the rally, as the Xsara is amazing on tarmac!”
Muller will be making his WRC debut but has plenty of experience away from circuit racing having previously competed in both the Andros Trophy and the Dakar Rally.
