The Adapta Motorsport team has confirmed that it has entered into a collaboration with M-Sport to run a Ford Fiesta in the 2011 World Rally Championship.
The team has run Subaru Impreza's in recent seasons for Mads Ostberg, but the young Norwegian will switch to the Fiesta for 2011 having sampled the S2000 version of the car on two events earlier this year.
Ostberg's final programme for 2011 has still to be confirmed, although he will be in action in the season opener in Sweden in February.
“I enjoyed driving the Ford Fiesta S2000 in France and Germany and I'm very happy to have been given the opportunity to drive the new Fiesta next year,” the 23-year-old said. “I know the competition is tough for next year's championship so I feel really lucky to have sorted this deal between M-Sport and Adapta at this stage.
“I don't have a lot of experience working with a big team like M-Sport but I found them to be very professional and welcoming. I'm really pleased about the deal and looking forward to next year.”
M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson welcomed Ostberg into the Ford family.
“It is great to be able to welcome Mads, Jonas [Andersson] and the Adapta team into the M-Sport family for 2011,” he said. “Mads and Jonas adapted well to the large team environment in Germany and with the new technical regulations coming, we feel the time is right for Mads to make the next step in his development as a driver.”
