9 - Armindo Araujo

Ninth goes to Armindo Araujo after he became the first man in over a decade to secure two Production World Rally Championship titles back-to-back on the recent Wales Rally GB.

Araujo had a strong season in his Ralliart Italy-run Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X, starting his title defence with a very good third place finish in Sweden. He then went on to win in Mexico and finish second in Jordan.

Two more wins followed in Germany and France and second on his sixth and final nominated PWRC event in Wales ensured he ended the year with 26 points more than his closest challenger, Patrik Flodin.

"I think we worked very well during the year," Araujo reflected. "Since the beginning we prepared very well - all the events we test a lot.

"The car is always new, so the team put a lot of resources in to be Champions again. I have not committed any mistakes during the season, I finished all the events on the podium, so I'm World Champion again, I'm very happy!"

So what are his plans for 2011 now? Will he be looking for a hat-trick of P-WRC crowns next year?

"I want to be in the World Rally Championship again. We are trying some different ways to be here," he explained after Rally GB.

"We are trying with the Group N, with the World Rally Car, with the Super 2000. We are checking everything and we will see what is possible.

"For the sporting side I have some open doors, but I will have to check with my sponsors to see what is possible. I think this result will help in the negotiations," he concluded.
