Dani Sordo marked what could be his final outing in the Citroen C4 WRC with victory on the Rallye de Monza.
The Spaniard, who has yet to sign a deal for the 2011 WRC season, beat sportscar ace Dindo Capello to victory by 5.1secs at 155km of competitive action at the home of the Italian Grand Prix.
Having taken the lead on stage three, Sordo saw off the challenge of four-time winner Capello to take victory and then added victory in the Master Show – a 1500 metre stage on the start/finish straight of the Monza circuit held on Sunday afternoon.
“Conditions were really difficult because of all the rain,” Sordo said. “Capello was very quick on this rally, which he knows perfectly. Nonetheless we managed to win. This is exactly the way I wanted to say goodbye to the Citroen C4 WRC. I'll always have some fantastic memories of this car.”
Behind the top two, Piero Longhi was third in a Ford Focus WRC, albeit well down on Capello's second placed C4, with former WTCC racer Stefano D'Aste fourth in a Lotus Exige GT.
