Toni Gardemeister will use a Peugeot 207 for his return to Intercontinental Rally Challenge action on Rallye Monte Carlo next week.
Gardemeister has been a podium finisher on the legendary rally on two occasions in the past and competed on the event last year in an Abarth Grande Punto Super 2000, retiring from a possible points finish with a mechanical failure on the final morning.
He submitted an entry for the rally last November and was one of the 120 successful applicants.
“This car will be more competitive for Monte,” said Gardemeister. “We cannot make a huge testing programme like the big teams but we are planning to complete a day-one day test right before the start and will use this chance [to learn the car] as much as possible.”
Gardemeister is targeting a podium finish but admits the competition will be tough: “It will be quite hard but I will do my best,” added the 35-year-old.
Tomi Tuominen, who also works as a reporter for the Finnish MTV3 television channel, will co-drive Gardemeister.
