Solberg keen to challenge for podium

Petter Solberg keen to fight for the podium as the WRC season starts in Sweden
Petter Solberg says he is keen to try and secure a podium finish on the opening round of the WRC season this weekend in Sweden.

The former WRC title winner will make his first appearance in the new Citroen DS3 WRC after securing a late deal to use a car this season, with the Norwegian having sampled the car for the first time in a test held prior to the event.

After an impressive season with his privately-run team last year, Solberg said he was keen to start the new campaign on a high and was also excited by the fact that Rally Sweden will host the first ever 'Power Stage' – where bonus points will be on offer to the quickest driver.

“I am so ready to start this rally now,” he said. “I felt at home behind the wheel in my new Citroen DS3 WRC from the very first moment. I'm going to fight for a podium this weekend!

“The car is a masterpiece, with so many small fine details. It looks so cool. The DS3 is easy drive and has a good balance, so I'm looking forward to finally starting the season.

“To finish the rally with a Power Stage is a great idea. If you are fastest trough, you will be awarded with 3 points, and those are important points. I think that this may give the spectators some action at the end of the rally, and prevent us from just driving safely to secure our places.”

The car looks fantastic!!! Loving the little section of chrome. Obviously been spending a bit to much time with the Bling king Mr Ken Block. Petter is an awesome talent, i fully expect him to be in a factory DS3 next year should Loeb stick to his retirement plans. What Petter did last year in a car that he funded single handedly was incredible. a true rally superstar.

Aha, so it was Mad Cros who pulled the plug. What a sad company that sponser such a talented and driven driver who I am sure will do great things this year. Hopefully Petter will shine and get some Red Bull sponsership and rub it in MC's noses. GO PETTER GO
