Petter Solberg has his sights set on a podium finish when the WRC season resumes this weekend in Portugal for the third round of the year.

The Norwegian looked well set for a top three finish in Mexico before an electrical issue saw him lose time on the second day, although he still battled back to finish in fourth place - which leaves him fifth in the championship standings ahead of the return to Europe.

Having shown his pace with the new Citroen DS3 in Mexico, Solberg will aim to break onto the podium for the first time this season and he insisted he was confident of a strong result in Portugal

"I really enjoy the stages in Portugal," he said. "They are fast and technical which suits me well. We have just completed one test day in Portugal and now got a lot of data that will help us decide for the best set up for this rally. We learned in Mexico that we have the speed, so I'm confident about a good result in Portugal."

Solberg finished fifth in the event last season.
