Dennis Kuipers said he was pleased with a top ten finish on the third round of the World Rally Championship season after breaking into the points for the first time.
The FERM Power Tools driver had scored manufacturer championship points in the season opener in Sweden but had finished outside the drivers' points in 13th place, with a retirement following in the second round of the year in Mexico.
However, a solid performance in Portugal saw Kuipers bring his Ford Fiesta RS WRC home in tenth place to score the first point for both himself and co-driver Frederic Miclotte.
"To score points for both Fred and I so early in the season and in such a tough rally, is just the greatest feeling!" he said. "We have fought to achieve this result. It was the toughest rally of my life."
Miclotte was also pleased to score his first point in the co-drivers' championship standings thanks to the tenth place finish.
"I am very happy with the points, especially how we did this after Mexico,” he said. “It was such a difficult rally - there is not a scratch on the car and we are very pleased with the result we've achieved."
