Ogier aims to benefit from starting slot

Sebastien Ogier looks to secure his second straight WRC victory on Rally Jordan
Sebastien Ogier admits that starting fourth on the road for the opening day of Rally Jordan will be a 'slight advantage' as the Citroen man seeks to secure his second successive WRC victory.

Ogier picked up his first win of the year in Portugal last time out to make amends somewhat for the incident on the final day of Rally Mexico, when he crashed out while leading.

The youngster sits fourth in the standings going into the fourth round of the year and is 17 points behind team-mate Sebastien Loeb and Ford's Mikko Hirvonen.

Eager to bring that gap down, Ogier said he was aiming to use his road position to get amongst the front-runners with solid points from the weekend being vital to his championship challenge.

“The roads are fairly quick and have a very hard surface,” he said. “Once the line's been swept you have excellent grip, almost identical to that on asphalt. On the other hand, in this desert countryside the lack of landmarks is a real problem so the notes are even more important than elsewhere.

“By starting in fourth place on the first day, we've got a slight advantage, but others will be even better placed. We have to get among the front-runners to be in a position to battle for the win at the end. Once again, it's going to be a very closely fought scrap and it's important to bag good points for both championships.”
