Loeb tops shakedown in Finland

Sebastien Loeb leads shakedown ahead of the latest round of the WRC in Finland
Defending champion Sebastien Loeb set the pace on shakedown for the latest round of the WRC season in Finland ahead of the opening three stages of the event later today.

The Citroen driver set a time of 1min 35.7secs through the 3.19km stage to finish ahead of team-mate Sebastian Ogier, with the Ford of Jari-Matti Latvala in third. Latvala goes into the weekend as one of the favourites for victory, with Finland being an event that has always been kind to the home drivers.

Petter Solberg was fourth ahead of Mads Ostberg and Evgeny Novikov – the latter completing no fewer than nine runs through the shakedown stage to make up for the fact he was unable to complete a pre-event test at the wheel of his M-Sport Stobart Ford Fiesta.

Kimi Raikkonen, Mikko Hirvonen, Matthew Wilson and MINI pair Dani Sordo and Kris Meeke rounded out the top ten.

Thursday afternoon will see the field kick-start their Finnish campaign with the opening three stages, including the longest test of the entire event to start with, the 23.76km run through Lankamaa.
