Sordo confident MINI can challenge

Dani Sordo hopes MINI can challenge in the 2012 WRC season
Dani Sordo says he is confident that the MINI WRC Team will be able to fight for victories in the 2012 World Rally Championship season.

The team made its debut this season with a six-round programme, which included two podium finishes for Sordo and a Power Stage success for team-mate Kris Meeke.

Having shown the potential to challenge towards the front of the field, most notably in France where he took second place, Sordo said he was confident that the Prodrive-run team could now make the step up to the next level next year.

“France was great this season as we were in contention for the overall victory, that is always fun,” he told the official WRC website. “I'm really happy with this season with the MINI. We start again from zero next year and I know we'll start better.

“I'm really excited for next year because the team will continue to work, to do things very well like they do now. More money to develop the car is very important now and with a little more [changes] and more kilometres we can be really close.”

Fully agree Rob hope it does get better with VW, Mini & hopefully a few more coming on board in years to come, just need to sort out a few more decent drivers rather than those who fill the seats due to large amouts of cash or connections within teams. The situation at Stobart is f**king disgraceful. Wouldn't blame them if they pulled out at any time because the haven't had good value for the cash they've put over the years.

Yes indeed, Mini will be doing the full 13 events next season. I have no doubts Dani will be a title contender and should get his wins at last. Have to admit WRC seems to be getting more exciting with Mini comeback and now we have VW arrival in 2013.
