Sordo confirms plans for 2012

Dani Sordo: I am delighted to be able to say I'll be in the World Rally Championship next year...

Dani Sordo will do at least ten WRC events with the MINI in 2012, he has confirmed on his official website.

Although the Prodrive-run outfit has yet to officially announce its programme for next season and recently missed the deadline to register as a manufacturer [see separate story - click here], the statement from the Spaniard is great news for the WRC.

Sordo also added that he will get to test for several days in January with the MINI John Cooper Works WRC car ahead of the Rallye Monte Carlo, the opening round in the 2012 World Rally Championship, which runs from January 17-22.

“I am delighted to be able to say I'll be in the World Rally Championship next year,” he commented. “It is very satisfying in view of the current situation.

"It makes me especially excited to be in Monte Carlo and to be able to test with the car before the rally. Monte Carlo is a special event. I finished second there in 2007 and it has not been part of the WRC now since 2008. I have more desire than ever to do well there.”

Had guessed this would happen, use one of the best development drivers out there and use budgets as the excuse for letting some cretin who waves their chequebook that couldn't drive their finger up their **** like Al-Qassimi at ford! WRC is a disgrace. Given a proper chance and with some better luck Meeke could easily be top 5 in every event.
