Andreas Mikkelsen enjoyed a storming end to the 2011 Intercontinental Rally Challenge season, with wins in the final two events in Scotland and Cyprus securing him the IRC drivers' title.
It was that performance that earned him a 'wild card' slot in our World Rally Driver of the Year poll and it seems you were just impressed. Indeed he polled an average mark of 6.71 out of 10 and thus takes ninth place overall.
It wasn't all plain sailing however for the Norwegian and he had a rocky start to the year, with that DNF in Monte Carlo. He also crashed out on the Ypres (in the very first stage) and threw away a likely win in Hungary, in SS13 - the penultimate stage of the event - having led throughout.
Still he made the most of the extra points on offer in Scotland and Cyprus (with points and a half and double points up for grabs respectively) and duly came out top on both events.
He will now return to defend his crown in 2012, again running in a Skoda UK Fabia S2000.
