MINI have congratulated Stephane Peterhansel after the French driver secured victory in the Dakar Rally for the tenth time driving a MINI ALL4 entered by the X-Raid team.
Peterhansel beat fellow MINI driver Nani Roma to victory by just over 40 minutes after an action packed event in South America, with five MINI ALL4s finishing inside the top ten.
“On behalf of MINI, I would like to congratulate Stéphane Peterhansel, his co-driver Jean-Paul Cottret and the entire X-raid Team on their triumph at the 2012 Rally Dakar,” Kay Segler, Senior Vice President, MINI Brand Management and Business Coordination, said. “To stand on the top step of the podium on ten occasions after the toughest rally in the world is quite simply an unbelievable achievement.
“Sven Quandt's team has once again proven its class with all five MINI ALL4 Racings finishing in the top ten.”
Peterhansel himself was delighted to add a fourth Dakar win on four wheels to his six successes on two-wheels.
“We have worked hard and for a long time for this win,” he said. “With the MINI ALL4 Racing, we designed a competitive and reliable car. I want to thank the entire team for its hard work and support, both prior to and during the event.”
