The organisers of Rally de Portugal have announced that SS10 has been cancelled following delays on the first loop earlier today.
As a result of those delays, SS8 will also start later than planned, running 30-60 minutes behind schedule. The day will now conclude with SS9.
“The second loop of stages for day two of Vodafone Rally de Portugal will be delayed by 30-60 minutes,” organisers confirmed in a statement on the events official website.
“The reason is because a car [that of Craig Breen] became stuck in a small water crossing on the road section between SS6 and SS7.
“The following cars could not get past so were unable to get to the start of SS7, so the stage was cancelled for them. They then had to drive the road section back to service so the second loop was delayed to allow them to reach service and have the required service time.
“To avoid a possible repeat on the second loop, the organisers have decided to cancel the second running of the S. Bras de Alportel stage, which would have been SS10.”
