Sordo linked with Ford role

Dani Sordo tipped to replace Jari-Matti Latvala in Argentina, with Prodrive man not currently set to compete in the event
Dani Sordo looks set to be named as the replacement for Jari-Matti Latvala in the Ford line-up for Rally Argentina, according to reports in Spain.

AUTOhebdo Sports reports that sources close to Sordo have confirmed the deal, which will see him line up alongside Petter Solberg for the next round on the calendar.

Although currently driving a MINI John Cooper Works for the Prodrive team, Sordo would be available for the Argentine event after his current team confirmed that its next outing in the series won't be until New Zealand in June [See separate story HERE].

While there has yet to be any official word from either Ford or Sordo, the Spaniard – who finished second on the season opener in Monte Carlo – has re-tweeted the AUTOhebdo Sports story through his official Twitter page.

Ford has been forced to look for a replacement for Latvala after the Finn broke his collarbone while cross-country skiing last week as part of his training programme.

@inconvenience I don't. Great on tarmac but pretty average on the loose stuff & snow. I'd imagine this makes fairly uncomfortable reading for Latvala, it's almost like a driver evaluation this.

Latvala can certainly keep up and beat the best of them. He just cant do it reliably. Same with Ogier. But it was the same with all the really fast drivers of old, they crashed all the time too. Honestly I think Loeb has spoiled us all, he is so fast and so perfect and so reliable that hes set a really high bar for all us rally fans. No other driver compares. If there was no Loeb, we would probably all rate JML and Ogier as the best drivers of this generation.
