Solberg chooses to run 13th in order

Starting order for day one in Greece set

Ford's Petter Solberg has chosen to run 13th in the order on the opening day of the Acropolis Rally of Greece.

Solberg got first pick of position after setting the best time in the qualifying stage [see separate story - here]. He then opted for a position as far down the order as possible so as to benefit from a line swept clean by those ahead.

“I think that this is the best position. If it is raining, it will dry quickly. The team is in top form and I think that this is our rally,” Solberg stated.

All the other drivers followed suit, and as such the starting line-up is a reversal of the result of the qualifying stage.

“I am starting behind [Petter] because we are counting on a dry rally and the road will be cleaner the further back you are,” Latvala explained.

Loeb, who will be 11th on the road in his Citroen DS3 WRC car, added: “We are not expecting a lot of rain so we are prepared to start behind.”
