Multiple WRC title winner Sebastien Loeb is to compete at the annual X Games in Los Angeles for the first time later this month.
The Frenchman will compete at the wheel of a Citroen DS3 XL built by Hansen Motorsport and will be up against the likes of Travis Pastrana and former WRC rival Marcus Gronholm.
"I like the competition and I always am curious to discover new disciplines,” Loeb said. “ A week after Rally of New Zealand, I will be therefore go to Los Angeles to take on the challenge that was set to me by Travis!
“Rallycross as we know it in Europe is very spectacular and the American version seems even more extreme. The chance to pilot a Citroen DS3 with 545bhp against opponents of the calibre of Marcus Grönholm can only motivate me!"
Loeb will compete at the X Games with backing from Red Bull, who have had a key involvement in the event for a number of years.
“Once the project was launched, we prepared for it seriously as we are aware of the importance that Red Bull attaches to the X Games,” Citroen Racing boss Yves Matton said. "As it is 'one shot', we will not need to think about to managing a position in the championship. There is only one race and we will be trying to win it. This will not be easy as we are competing against people who do this all the time but will be fight all the way.”
