Gareth Roberts, the young co-driver who lost his life on Targa Florio-Rally Internazionale Di Sicilia in mid-June, has been remembered with the unveiling of a memorial stone on the event's Cefalu' stage at the location where the accident occurred on 16 June.
Cefalu Corse ASD commissioned the artist Silvana Bontempo to prepare the tribute stone to the talented 24-year-old navigator.
The stone is engraved with the wording: “To Gareth Roberts. In this place your young life and even younger and more brilliant passion were extinguished. In eternal memory.”
Meanwhile, Roberts' former driver Craig Breen has started competing again, tackling two rallies in recent weeks.
On his first event in Wales, Roberts' older brother Dai partnered him, while on Rally Finland last week, former IRC title-winning co-driver Paul Nagle linked up with his fellow Irishman.
