London-based rally star Harry Hunt has signed up for two more events in 2012 as he looks to take the next step in his international career.
Hunt will drive the Kronos Racing Peugeot 207 Super 2000 in the forthcoming Rallye Mont-Blanc and Rallye Sanremo in a bid to get experience on the four-wheel equipment used in the full Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
"We felt it was a perfect opportunity to sample some four-wheel-drive machinery,” said Hunt. "“Mont-Blanc and Sanremo will provide me with some valuable experience of the Super 2000 car."
As well as competing in Rallye Mont-Blanc in France from September 6-8 and the IRC round at Rallye Sanremo in Italy from October 11-13, Hunt will also complete his planned IRC 2WD Cup schedule by contesting the events in Bulgaria and Cyprus in his regular Citroen DS3 R3T.
“We've decided to run two extra rallies in our calendar this year because we have a gap in our IRC schedule," explained the 23-year-old, who will be partnered in the two new events by long-term navigator Robbie Durant. Hunt's team manager Iwan Evans will oversee the programme.
"I've had some past experience competing in the Fiesta S2000 but my knowledge is limited so I'll be looking to learn as much as I can on these two rallies," added Hunt. "I'm really looking forward to the challenge and I can't wait to get back behind the wheel of a four-wheel-drive car."
Krnos Racing have experience of both events, and helped boost Kris Meeke and Thierry Neuville to victory in Sanremo in 2009 and 2011 respectively.
