Matton: Loeb will remain with Citroen

Yves Matton: It's not only 2013 but also what he [Loeb] will do with Citroen in the future
Citroen team boss Yves Matton has confirmed that Sebastien Loeb will remain with the team next season, although he has refused to go into specifics, saying some details have still to be hammered out.

Loeb is all but guaranteed to win the WRC drivers' title for a record ninth time this year, but whether or not he will go for a tenth in 2013 and do another full season remains uncertain.

Speaking ahead of this weekend's Wales Rally GB, the tenth round in the 2012 World Rally Championship, Matton added that there should be an announcement before the end of the month.

“The thing is that he will be with Citroen in the future, but we are not telling details today,” Matton commented. “First of all we are not completely finished, it's not easy, it's a long time. It's not only 2013 but also what he will do with Citroen in the future.

“We are working on this. When we are ready we will tell. It won't be this weekend [though], that's for sure.

“I hope before the end of the month. [But] in my position I can only be glad to have Sebastien in the team.”

Citroen meanwhile can secure the Manufacturers' Championship in Wales this weekend and Matton is keen to see that happen.

“We need to take a minimum of six points and then we can be Champions three rallies before the end.

"I hope it can be like that as that means that all the team are doing a really good job this year,” he added.

Loeb can't switch to another team because he is 'born and grown' in Citroen. He also has commercial value for them and he simply wouldn't want to ruin that long relationship just because someone think he should prove something, like those almost 9 titles are worthless.
