Latvala crashes out too

Game over for Jari-Matti Latvala - at least for today...

Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala has joined Sebastien Loeb on the sidelines in Sardinia after crashing out in the second test of the day.

The Finn, who was down in sixth following the first two stages on Thursday, after his decision to run first on the road backfired, was third quickest in the opening test this morning.

However, in the next one, the 14.12 kilometre Castelsardo test (SS4), he hit a bank at high-speed and burst the radiator on his Fiesta RS WRC car. Although he continued briefly, he went off again and was forced out.

It is not yet known if he will be able to re-start on Saturday under the Rally 2 regulations.

Why knock this guy!? If he was british/scotish and called McRae we lived with it, and loved the fact somebody was on the edge and was flying every stage and all the time! And I am a huge McRae fan, he had raw talent - so does Latvala. I for one love Latvala, name somebody in the WRC who is committed, PR friendly and has worked bloody hard at Rallying to get to the stage he's at now. As for the crashing - a team has to understand and be prepared for somebody to find the limits and push beyond them, if VW weren't happy to take Latvala on, then do you really think they would have offered him a job!? They aren't thick and Latvala has been around for too long for somebody not to notice his results/DNF's and except them.
