Neuville: Great results possible with Qatar M-Sport

Thierry Neuville looking forward to the start of his 'new adventure' with the Qatar M-Sport WRT

Thierry Neuville has said he is confident he can achieve some 'great results' next year in the World Rally Championship following confirmation he will compete in all 13 events with the Qatar M-Sport World Rally Team.

News of Neuville's defection from Citroen to the Cumbrian-based outfit came on Saturday, and the Belgian now has high hopes he can build his impressive debut WRC season, in which he claimed eleven stages win and finished a career-high fourth in France.

“It is a great honour for me to represent Qatar and M-Sport on all 13 rounds of next season's championship. Thanks to a great 'learning' year in the WRC, I am confident that I will be able to achieve some great results alongside M-Sport and my new team mates," confirmed the 24-year-old.

“I would especially like to thank Malcolm [Wilson – M-Sport managing director] for his confidence in me, and also my friend [and team-mate] Nasser [Al-Attiyah] for his fantastic support.

“I am now focussed on preparing for Rally Monte-Carlo and really looking forward to the start of this new adventure.”

Evgeny Novikov meanwhile was also named by the team as one of its drivers on Saturday and he too is bullish about the coming season.

“I am very glad to be representing Qatar and M-Sport next year,” added the Russian. “I would like to express huge gratitude to all those who supported me and believed in me: my mentor Mikhail Lepekhov, Malcolm [Wilson], my family and my fans.

“In 2013 we will fight at the top level and do our best to please those who have supported us all these years.”

Stepping up a Level in Rallying is a little bit like changing gear when you are accelerating hard, you reach your Optimum RPM then you change up another Gear, this causes you to loose a little momentum as you again let the RPMs Build, its the same thing Neuville has just changed Gear, and in fact you could argue that this gear was a fairly big Ratio difference too as he also went from IRC Events to WRC Events and has to also learn the stages as well as the Car and a New Team, and now a new Team again I am sure he is still accelerating Hard though, in fact I think this Kid will be Joining Jari Matti and Ogier next Season as being known for their Raw speed and abaility to set amazing times and take time from their competitors when it matters.
