Sordo to start 13th

Starting order for day one in Portugal set

Citroen's Dani Sordo has chosen to run 13th in the order on the opening day of Rally de Portugal.

Sordo got first pick after leading the way in qualifying. As expected the Spaniard elected to start as far back as he can as those ahead will then sweep the road and leave a quicker line behind.

“It wasn't a difficult decision,” Sordo told the official WRC site, “the roads will be dry and 13th place is simply the best place to be.”

Behind, his rivals followed suit, meaning the running order for day 1 is just a reversal of how people qualified, with Dennis Kuipers, who was slowest, set to run right at the front and open the stages.

Rally de Portugal now gets underway on Friday, with five stages on the bill in total, covering 80.55 competitive kilometres in total. SS1, the 20.32 kilometre Mú 1 test, is due to start at 09.18 hours local time.
