Meeke seeks rally return

Kris Meeke hopes to return to competitive action with Peugeot later in the year
Kris Meeke says he is hopeful that he will be given the chance to compete in Peugeot's new R5-specification 208 T16 later in the year.

Meeke has been helping the French manufacturer with the early test and development work on the new car alongside Craig Breen, and has now completed nearly 500km of gravel running.

The former IRC champion has found himself without a competitive drive this season to complement his development work, and he admitted that he would welcome the chance to compete in the new Peugeot if the chance arose.

“I'm up for doing any rallies, I just want to get back to competition,” he said. “There's nothing concrete about doing an event, but it's sure that Peugeot need to be doing rallies and putting the car in the environment and that's what they have traditionally done.”

The car is set to appear in the European Rally Championship at some point in the year.

its so sad that this Guy isnt doing anything in the WRC, its all about money these days though, its a reflection of how tight budges are when Teams overlook this Guy for drivers with a Budget rather than who can do the best with an opportunity
