Atkinson added to Hyundai WRC test line-up

Chris Atkinson: It is such an exciting project. After visiting the Hyundai Motorsport factory three weeks ago, I am simply impressed by the team's commitment and achievements so far.
Hyundai has added a third name to its test driver line-up with confirmation that Chris Atkinson will be part of the team's testing programme for 2013.

Atkinson, who will support Hyundai's 'main' test drivers, Juho Hanninen and Bryan Bouffier at selected tests during the remainder of the year, will now get behind the wheel of the i20 WRC for the first time next week.

The 33-year-old recently flew from his native Australia to Hyundai Motorsport's headquarters in Alzenau to get a first glimpse at the i20 WRC and to familiarise himself with the team and have a seat fitting ahead of his maiden test.

“It is such an exciting project,” said Atkinson, the reigning FIA Asia-Pacific Rally champion. “After visiting the Hyundai Motorsport factory three weeks ago, I am simply impressed by the team's commitment and achievements so far.

"I have a lot of experience of many different WRC cars and events, and I will utilise this knowledge to support the development of the 2014 i20 WRC car.”

Hyundai Motorsport team principal Michel Nandan meanwhile is delighted to have the former Subaru WRT, Proton, MRF Skoda and WRC MINI Team Portugal man on board.

“It is great to be able to integrate Chris into Hyundai Motorsport testing line-up for this season and I am convinced he will bring a lot of valuable WRC experience," Nandan added. "Chris will support the work of our main test drivers Juho and Bryan.

"With the combined expertise of all three test drivers, we will be able to benefit from thorough and comprehensive input at every test session.”

Well I understand that Atko is pretty Good at testing and finding the best set ups, all Hyundai need now is a Quick driver who can get them into the points on Rallies Its Great that there is a new Team in Town, but for Hyundai its going to be an Important challenge to find a Driver who can become a Star in their car Finding Top Drivers in the WRC is getting difficult now as they are all signed up to other Teams, it wasn't that long ago that several drivers were all vying for the same seat, now there are several Teams Vying for a driver, Good time to be an up and coming Top WRC Driver
