Citroen's Dani Sordo has won Rallye Deutschland to secure his first WRC win after a thrilling final stage decider.

Sordo and Thierry Neuville went into the last day split by just 0.8 seconds and while Sordo extended his cushion by 2.2 seconds in SS15, with just 3 seconds between them, it was all to play for in the final test.

Sordo, however, held on to take the victory, with Neuville eventually finishing 53 seconds back following a mistake near the end of Dhrontal 2, SS16.

Mikko Hirvonen meanwhile took the final spot on the podium, albeit more than 2.5 minutes off his Citroen team-mate.

Martin Prokop equalled his career-best result with fourth, ahead of WRC2 runners Robert Kubica and Elfyn Evans.

Jari-Matti Latvala, Hayden Paddon, Mads Ostberg and Evgeny Novikov rounded out the top ten, while Championship leader Sebastien Ogier only finished 17th after his off in SS3 on Friday. The Frenchman did add to his points tally, however, after winning the event ending Power Stage, 3.9 seconds up on Sordo.
